Karnali Province
Karnali Province is one of the seven provinces of Nepal, located in the western part of the country. It was formed in 2015 after the adoption of the new constitution of Nepal and is named after the Karnali River, which flows through the province. The province has its capital in the city of Birendranagar.
Karnali Province is the largest province in Nepal, covering an area of 27,984 square kilometers. It is a mountainous region, with the Himalayan range in the north and the Mahabharat Range in the south. The province is divided into ten districts, namely Humla, Mugu, Dolpa, Jumla, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Surkhet, Dailekh, Salyan, and Rukum.
The population of Karnali Province is estimated to be around 1.5 million, and it is one of the least developed regions in Nepal. The province faces numerous challenges such as poor infrastructure, limited access to education and healthcare, and high poverty rates. However, the province is rich in natural resources and has vast potential for tourism, hydropower, and agriculture.
Karnali Province is home to several ethnic groups, including the Thakuri, Gurung, Magar, Chhetri, and Dalit communities. The province is also known for its unique culture, traditions, and festivals, such as the Tiji festival in Upper Mustang and the Saama Janku festival in Humla.
