Jomsom-Muktinath trek is part of Annapurna Circuit which is also very popular trek in Nepal. This trek is walking through the gorge carved by the Kali Gandaki River which carries water from the Tibetan plateau to eventually join the Ganges in India. Both Jomson and Muktinath are the famous pilgrimage spot for both the Hindu and Buddhist which is a great trekking area for trekkers. 

On the journey, trekkers complete the romantic journey by walking through the world deepest gorge located between the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains. You will pass through the beautiful Rupse waterfalls, hot water ponds, apple garden, monastery village kagbeni and also typical villages of Thakalis and Buddhist. This trek holds and reveals Nepal's impressive diversity and variations at its finest when visited. Beside these, this trek comprises several temples that hold both Hindus and Buddhists religious customs and cultural mosaic of those places and Nepal in overall. You can find holy rocks worshipped by the Hindus and the trails entertain traveler's moments during travel. This trek takes you through distinct regional scenery of flora, fauna, and rivers. In Jomsom, you will go through deep valleys and high mountains encircling the giant Annapurna Himal embracing a wide range of peoples and terrain. Day 03.    Pokhara- Kande-Landruk[Altitude 1640 m) 
Drive to Kande (Approx 1 hour drive) and trek to Landruk via Australian Camp - about 6 hrs trek 
After breakfast, you will drive to Kande in a private vehicle from where we begin our trek approx one hour climb to Australian Camp that takes us through a landscape of terraced fields and forests and affords some stunning views out across the central Himalayas.
Leaving Australian Camp, then, we will have trek involves a relatively easy hike along the ridge-line to the Gurung village of Landruk. Landruk lies along the trekking route to Annapurna Base Camp and is famed for its honey hunting festival, where intrepid harvesters climb bamboo ladders and dangle precariously from ropes to gather the honeycomb from the sheer cliff faces. Surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery of the entire journey, the village lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area and provides us with one of the visual highlights of the trek.

Day 04.    Landruk-Ghandruk [Altitude 1940 m) 
Trek from Landruk to Ghandruk (about 4 hrs trek) 
From Landruk, the trail makes a steep descent through terraced fields to Modi River. Crossing the river on a suspension bridge, the train climbs all the way to Ghandruk. Situated at 1970 meters, Ghandruk, the second largest Gurung village is one of the most beautiful villages of Nepal. Ghandruk is wonderfully confusing cluster of closely spaced, slate roofed houses nestling between terraced fields of wheat and barley. We arrive at Ghandruk for lunch. After lunch we tour the village and visit a local Gurung museum.

Day 05.    Ghandruk-Tadapani [Altitude 2630 m) 
Trek from Ghandruk to Tadapani -about 5 hrs trek
All uphill today, the trail showcases rich rhododendron forests, gloriously cascading sparkling mountain streams and other mystical vistas of nature. After continuously climbing for 4 ½ hours, we finally reach the village of Tadapani. Tadapani offers magnificent mountain views of the overpowering peaks of Annapurna South.

Day 06.    Tadapani-Ghorepani [Altitude 2860 m) 
Trek from Tadapani to Ghorepani–about 7 hrs trek 
To start with the trail descends for a while and a steep 20 mins climb to a small tea house in the clearing. From here it’s undulating till you reach Banthanti 2520m. Banthanthi is a good place for a tea stop as from here it's a steep approx 2 hrs walk to Deurali. From Deurali the trial ascends gently through the forest for 20mins till you see the Dhaulagiri range and Nilgiri Himal. Its one of the best walk on this trip coz on a clear day the views from the ridge is just breath taking. The path then descends to Ghorepani as you can see the blue roofed houses of Ghorepani

Day 07.    Ghorepani- Tatopani [Altitude 1190 m) 
Early walk from Ghorepani to Poon Hill for sunrise over the Himalayas (it will be an approx 45 min trek) and return back to Ghorepani will take approx 30 minutes

You can catch an amazing view of the sunrise from an ideal vantage point of Poon Hill. After breakfast, you descend to Tatopani through the rhododendron forest amidst the magnificent natural vistas. As you near Chitre, you get an awe-inspiring view of Dhaulagiri range. The path then leads through terraced fields to Sikha, a Magar village clustered on a ridge. You continue descending, gradually at first and then more steeply to cross the Ghar Khola. After a short climb, you cross the Kali Gandaki on a large suspension bridge and from thereon, it is only a short distance upstream to Tatopani. Tatopani takes its name after the hot springs near the river below the village.

Day 08.    Tatopani-Ghasa [Altitude 2000 m) 
Trek from Tatopani-Ghasa -about 5-6 hrs trek
You have to follow the trail that ascends gently up the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, towards the village of Dana, which is surrounded by orange groves. En route, you come across local people selling baskets of oranges. Just beyond the small hamlet of Rupse, a thundering waterfall cascades down beside the trail. Thereafter, the trail enters the steepest and narrowest section of the gorge. You will find the layered stone path well-constructed and wide. As the rock cliff ends, you head towards Ghasa, a quaint Thakali village. You can see several flat-roofed Tibetan style houses in Ghasa.

Day 09.    Ghasa-Larjung [Altitude 2560 m) 
Trek from Ghasa-Larjung -about 5-6 hrs trek
After breakfast you trek from Ghasa towards Larjung. Few hours of descents soon follow other rock-strewn ascents through forests of fir, cypress and juniper along the riverbank of Kali Gandaki. As soon as you reach Larjung, you cannot help but marvel at the architectural grandeur of this small town; tunnels, narrow alleyways and houses built in traditional style presents an interesting sight.

Day 10.    Larjung-Jomsom [Altitude 2713 m) 
Trek from Larjung-Jomsom -about 6-7 hrs trek
You begin to trek along the trail that follows the wide valley of the Kali Gandaki, passing through Khobang and Tukuche. Yet again, you get to see narrow alleyways and houses built around enclosed courtyards as a protection against the unpredictable wind of the Kali Gandaki gorge. The trail further meanders through stonewalled orchards. Soon you will come across a stone gate that marks the entrance to Marpha. You can spot several white-walled houses. Marpha has well-maintained drainage system and is most popular for its local apple brandy. After a lunch in Marpha, you continue trekking towards Jomsom. As you approach your destination Jomsom, the landscape becomes increasingly arid and impressive with its mixture of browns, yellows and greys contrasting with the white snowcapped peaks of Tilicho and Nilgiri.

Day 11.    Jomsom-Muktinath [Altitude 3800 m) 
Trek from Jomsom-Muktinath -about 7-8 hrs trek
After breakfast you resume your trekking along the path up to the vast gravel riverbed of the Kali Gandaki. You come across a stream and verdant vegetation. On crossing a small ridge to Chhancha Lhumba at 2730 meters, you continue heading towards Muktinath. Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri dominates the view as you ascend to Khingar (3200 meters). More meadows, streams and lush vegetation can be seen along the trail as it paves to Jharkot (3500 meters). You encounter the ruins of the Dzong and pristine villages of Purang and Changur. As you trek past mule stables and steep barren hillside, you enter Ranipauwa. Ranipauwa for years has remained an ideal resting point for pilgrims and travelers. On trekking further, you enter Muktinath. Temples and religious shrines are the major attractions of this holy place. Pilgrims flock to the Buddhist gompa and pagoda-style temple of Lord Vishnu . Muktinath is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Heading away from Muktinath, you retrace your steps to Jomsom taking on the magnificent view of Nilgiri. You stay overnight in Jomsom.

WALKING GRADES AND FITNESS
Jomsom-Muktinath Trek is graded as Moderate Trek and suitable for all walkers who have the capability to walk 5-6 hours a day with a light day pack. Some days, you may even need to walk more than above. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior of the trip is a good idea to improve your strength and stability. No technical skill is required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood disease should inform Destination Nepal Tours and Travels before booking the trek.

LODGES/TEAHOUSES IN TREKKING
Our accommodation whilst on trek on twin room sharing basis in a simple locally run lodges, known as teahouses and it's a great pleasure to support these small local businesses. Rooms are simply furnished with just a bed and occasionally a small table. You will need to bring a sleeping bag. Only few lodges have attached toilet during the trek (we will try to provide attached toilets where available during trek). However, please note, normally washing and toilet facilities are shared and may be in a separate part of the teahouse or outside. It's great to enjoy the company of your fellow travelers and share a tale with other trekkers in the evening in the dining area.
If you are a solo traveler, you will share a room with someone else of same sex of your group. If you prefer a single room, you may indicate your preference and get single rooms on request by paying extra as indicated on cost section. But, you need to understand that in teahouses/lodges of higher elevation area single room is not always possible. We guarantee single room in Kathmandu, Pokhara and during trek in lower elevation areas but towards higher elevation single room is may not be always possible, although we try our best to provide you with single room.

MEALS & DRINKING WATER
On this trek we provide standard breakfast, lunch and dinner, tea or coffee will also be included with each meal. Your guide will help with menu selection and ensure that you get the best value meals possible. Although the food is usually plentiful and delicious, you should be aware that the menu is not normally extensive. Most teahouses offer a variety of rice and noodle dishes, as well as soup and seasonal vegetables. You can buy packaged water (bottled mineral water) from local lodge and shop en route or you can also ask your guide to fill your water bottle with boiled water (extra cost to be paid) and treat with water purification pills.

LUGGAGE WHILE TREKKING
During the trek, your main luggage will be carried by porter. Please keep your luggage as light as possible around 12 kg. You simply carry a day pack with water bottle, camera, sun-screen, spare jacket etc. You can leave your valuable items at your hotel while trekking. Many hotels have a locker system and provide a deposit slip for the valuables kept under the hotel's safekeeping. You may also leave your extra things at your hotel which is not required for your trek in your main luggage. Please note that we will provide complimentary kit bag for you before your trek starts so that you can pack all your necessary things.

TREKKING CREW
On tea house trek you will be accompanied by a team of local crew whose aim is to make the trek as comfortable and enjoyable as much possible. The crew consists of a trek guide/leader and a team of porters to carry all your gear. On average, there will be a ratio of one porter to every two trekkers.
The most important thing that makes your Trek successful, enjoyable and memorable is the skilled, experienced, courteous and helpful trek guide and the crew members with ability of operating your days in the mountain smoothly. Your trip will be led by experienced trek guide. All of our trekking guides/leaders are carefully selected on the basis of their appropriate experience, leadership skills and personal aptitude.

PERSONAL EXPENSES
On this trek breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided during your trek. You only need money for table drinks (alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages), snacks while walking (a few smaller shops are available along the trail in some areas) tips, souvenirs, hot shower (available in some places).

TYPICAL DAY ON TREK
Each morning after packing our bags and having a good breakfast, we set off on the day's walk. After walking for 3-4 hours we stop for lunch at around midday. The afternoon's walk is generally shorter and we usually arrive at our destination in time for afternoon tea. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the village, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days we will arrive at our destination by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free. After dinner, the evening will often be spent playing cards and reliving the day's adventures, before heading off to bed for a well-earned sleep.

MEETING AND GREETING IN KATHMANDU
You need to pass on your International flight details to us for a 'meeting and greeting' service at the Kathmandu Airport. You just pass through the Customs and come out of the Arrival Terminal Hall after collecting your baggage where you will see our representative /guide standing with a placard that states Destination Nepal Tours and Travels' with your own name.

CLIMATE & BEST TIME TO GO
Autumn (mid Sept to mid Dec) and Spring (March to May) are the best seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views but the nights are cold and can fall to freezing. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, only colder (obviously). The trekking routes are crowded during spring and autumn but during winter the routes are not packed and you could enjoy rather best of nature. However, please note, there may be snowfall / avalanches during the winter.

ITINERARY CHANGES
Depending on the prevailing situation, itinerary can be modified to some extent after consulting with your trek guide. However, the date of trek completion should always coincide with the original itinerary. You should keep in mind that this is an adventure trip into the remotest region, where many unforeseen events may contribute to the need for a change in itinerary. In such cases, we or your guide will suggest the best alternative similar to your original.

RESCUE/EVACUATIONS
In case of a serious sickness or a casualty, which we hope will not happen; you shall be rescued by a helicopter. Since you are entirely liable for all the expenses incurred in evacuation please make sure that it is covered by your insurance before assigning for it or be prepared to pay on your own after getting back in Kathmandu.

INSURANCE
It is recommended of joining any of Destination Nepal Tours & Travels trips that be protected against comprehensive expenses potential to incur due to medical issues or accidents (to include air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). NEPAL VISA 
All visitors except the Indian nationals must hold passport and valid visa. Visa can be obtained at the Nepalese diplomatic missions and consulates abroad. Visa is also issued at the entry points. It can be extended at the Department of Immigration, Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. Children under 10 years need not pay any visa fee. People willing to get entry Visa at the airport or any of the land entry points are required to fill a visa form with passport photograph. Visas of all kinds including ‘Gratis’ issued at the Airport are Tourist Visas. Contact Department of Immigration for extending your visa or changing the category of your visa. Tourist Visa extension can be done from Immigration Office, Pokhara too. Non tourist visa extension can be done only at Department of Immigration (if eligible) for a period of maximum one year (except business visa).

Visa Extension

  • Tourist visa extension is done for minimum 15 days with USD 45 and USD 3 per day for additional days.
  • In the case of delay less than 150 days additional USD 5 per day as late fine.

PASSPORT AND VISAS: 
You must carry a valid passport and have obtained all of the appropriate visas, permits and certificates for the countries in which you will visit during your trip. Your passport must be valid for six months beyond the duration of the trip. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of the correct visas, permits and certificates for your trip; please refer to the Trip Notes for details. We are not responsible if you are refused entry to a country because you lack the correct passport, visa or other travel documentation.

Identity documents required for Indian citizen going to/coming from Nepal by Air:-

  • Valid National passport.
  • Photo Identity card issued by the Government of India/State Govt./UT Administration in India to their employees or Election ID card issued by Election Commission of India.
  • Emergency Certificate issued by Embassy of India, Kathmandu.
  • Identity Certificate issued by Embassy of India, Kathmandu.
  • Persons in the age of group of above 65 years and below 15 years would be exempted from the requirement of approved identity documents mentioned at SL. No. (i),(ii),(iii) and (iv). However, they must have some documents with photograph to confirm their age and identity such as PAN card, Driving license, CGHS card, Ration card etc.
  • Children between the age group of 15 to 18 years may be allowed to travel between India and Nepal on the strength of Identity certificate issued by the principal of the school in the prescribed performa.
  • In case of a family (family means husband wife, minor children and parents) traveling together, the approved identification document at SL. NO.(i) ),(ii),(iii) and (iv) would not be insisted from all the family members if one of the adult members of the family has in possession of one of the prescribed identification document  at SL. NO.(i) ,(ii),(iii) and (iv). However, the other family members must have some proof of their identity with photograph and their relationship as a family viz. CGHS card, Ration card, Driving license, ID card issued by school/college etc.

Note:-

  • Aadhaar (UID) card is not an acceptable travel document for travel to Nepal/Bhutan.
  • Certificate of Registration issued by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Nepal to Indian nationals is not an acceptable travel document for travelling between India and Nepal.  
  • The Emergency Certificate & Identity Certificate issued by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu will be valid for single journey for travelling back to India

CARE FOR PORTERS AND STAFFS
We ensure that all porters and all other staff climbing in high altitude conditions are provided with adequate clothing and equipment. We ensure that the porters we hire are insured. We run the trek according to the guidelines of the International Porter Protection group (IPPG- www.ippg.net).

PRE-TRIP MEETING
On the second day of the itinerary, we host a Pre-Trip short Meeting at the hotel by your trek guide, the primary purpose of the meeting is to provide brief information on your trek and equipments hiring if needed.
Please bring the following thing on the meeting-

  • Passport
  • Two copies of Passport size photos each.
  • Travel Insurance Policy.

TIPS
Tipping is the accepted way of saying 'thank you' for good service. Tips do not form part of the wages of your guides, porters and trek crew but they are very much appreciated. It is important to remember that tipping is voluntary and should be dependent on good service. Normally the tips are given at the end of the trek and this is best done as a group. Most groups will give the tips with a bit of ceremony (or sometimes a party) on the last evening, to mark the end of the trip. The amount depends on your budget and appreciation of their work.

BOOKING CONDITIONS
Your booking will be confirmed by email once we receive your deposit of 40% of total trip cost & the balance 60% of total trip cost after on arrival in Kathmandu. 

CANCELATION 
In case of cancellation by the Traveller, the Agency has the right to charge a percentage cancellation fee according to the following scale:

  • Up to 30 days before the “Trip Start Day” a fee of 20% 
  • 15-29 days before the “Trip Start Day” a fee of 30% 
  • 7-14 days before the “Trip Start Day” a fee of 60% 
  • 6 or less days until the “Trip Start Day” and in the event of non-appearance a fees of 90%
