Overview

A wedding in the Kingdom of Nepal is a major celebration which may continue over several days. The festivities incorporate a big party, lively music, a feast, much dancing and, of course, fun for all concerned! Decorations include colorful paper flowers and twinkling lights. 
A Nepalese bride will dress in the bridal color of red, will be beautifully made up and will wear much jewelry. Traditionally, the bride and groom are being carried to the wedding ceremony. In a village this may be in a basket or by horse; at a city wedding transportation is more likely to be by a parade of cars. A priest will bless the couple, gifts are exchanged and then the party really begins. 
Nepal has the tallest mountains in the world, which provide a stunning backdrop for your wedding celebrations. The country also features rivers, plains, valleys and deserts, plus a collection of historic cities. 

Katmandu Valley is home to Nepal’s premier three cities and the nation’s two most important temples. There are the fascinating Buddhist temple of Swayambhunath and the riverside Hindu temple Pashupatinath. Other attractions in Katmandu Valley include a cloud forest, hot springs, traditional villages and many monasteries. 

The Nepalese capital, Katmandu, is an intriguing blend of past and present, with a collection of historic temples at its center. It is bound by rivers to its west and south. Cross the southern river of Bagmati and you arrive at Nepal’s second city, Patan. Their tangles of streets are a joy to explore, and its extravagant Newari architecture is fascinating. The valleys
Third city, Bhaktapur, is also known for its architecture - 17th century Medieval in this case. Its squares are filled with temples, statues and columns. 
If you want to head into the mountains, a good base is Pokhara, a quiet city on the banks of a lake with the Devi Falls, a hilltop monastery, mountains, limestone caves and Tibetan settlements nearby. 
Nepal is a Hindu nation with a significant Buddhist influence. The country is a whirlwind of colorful and exotic cultural expression, particularly in its art, dance and music. All of this contributes to making a Nepalese wedding day totally unique.
