Itinerary

Spectacular Flight to Paro, Bhutan – A Breathtaking Himalayan Journey

The flight from Kathmandu to Paro is one of the most scenic flights in the Himalayas. As you fly over the majestic Himalayan mountain range, enjoy stunning views before making an exciting landing in Bhutan.

Upon arrival in Paro, the first thing you’ll notice is the cool, fresh mountain air. After completing immigration and baggage collection, our representative will greet you and take you on a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. Along the way, stop at Chuzom, where the Paro and Thimphu rivers meet. Here, you will see three unique stupas—Tibetan, Nepalese, and Bhutanese. Before reaching Chuzom, look out for Tschogang Lhakhang, a private temple from the 15th century, dedicated to Balaha, a manifestation of Chenrezig, the Compassionate Buddha.

Upon arriving in Thimphu, check into your hotel. As the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu is the country’s political, religious, and cultural hub. With a population of around 90,000, it remains one of the few capitals in the world without traffic lights, blending modern development with ancient traditions.

End the day with a visit to Trashichhoedzong, also known as the "Fortress of the Glorious Religion." This grand structure houses the monarch’s throne room, the chief abbot’s seat, and serves as the center of Bhutan’s government and religion. Originally built in 1641 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, it was later rebuilt in the 1960s using traditional Bhutanese architecture—without nails or architectural blueprints.

In the evening, take a leisurely walk along Thimphu Main Street and visit the Local Crafts Bazaar. Here, you can shop for authentic Bhutanese handicrafts, including handwoven textiles, Thangkha paintings, masks, ceramics, wood carvings, jewelry, and souvenirs made from local materials.

  • Textile Museum – Showcasing Bhutan’s rich weaving heritage.

After lunch, take a short 15 km drive to Pangri Zampa, a 16th-century monastery where Buddhist monks study Lamaism and astrology.

Next, visit Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) for a panoramic view of Thimphu Valley. Pay respects to the largest Buddha statue in Bhutan and soak in the peaceful surroundings.

End your tour at the King’s Memorial Chorten, where locals continuously circumambulate, spin prayer wheels, and chant mantras. Built in 1974 in memory of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, it stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity.

This sacred site was visited by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel in 1646 and remains a must-visit pilgrimage for Bhutanese. Though a fire in 1998 damaged the monastery, it has since been beautifully restored.

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before visiting Kyichu Lhakhang, a 7th-century temple built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, marking the arrival of Buddhism in Bhutan.
